Manage Importer/Broker Relationship

Top  Previous  Next

Brokers and Importers can manage their relationships with one another on the Manage Importer/Broker Relationship page.  The Importer-Broker relationship is between an Importer Organization and an Individual Broker.  Other Brokers in the same Broker Organization will not be able to file on behalf of the Importer unless they have also established a relationship with the Importer.  A Broker may not file declaration forms until they have an established relationship with an Importer Organization.

Importers will see all the Brokers that their organization has established a relationship with or once had a relationship.  Brokers with a Y in the Active column indicates it is an active relationship, whereas Brokers with a N in the Active column was a relationship that was deactivated by the Importer.  The Importer can sever ties with a Broker by clicking the corresponding Deactivate button.  If the Importer wishes to re-establish a relationship with a Broker that they previously severed ties with, they can click on the corresponding Reactivate button.

The steps to establish a new Importer/Broker relationship are as follows:

An Importer logs into LAWGS and selects Manage Account - Manage Importer/Broker Relationship.
The Importer generates a Broker Key Code clicking the Generate Broker Key Code button.  The system will then display a unique broker key code.  This code can only be used once by one Broker.  To finalize this process, the Importer must click the Save button to save the code as one of their organization’s codes.
The Importer is then responsible for manually providing the chosen Broker with their unique Broker Key Code.
The Broker logs into LAWGS and selects Manage Account - Manage Importer/Broker Relationship.
The Broker enters the unique Broker Key Code supplied by the Importer .  To verify the code, the Broker can click the Display Importer button to display the Importer Organization that the Broker will establish a relationship with.  Once the Broker clicks the Save button, the relationship has been established and the Broker will be granted the authority to submit Declaration Forms on behalf of that Importer Organization.
